Well. You're in a world that's in two regions: Johto and Kanto. The monster beside you is called a Pokémon and they ( and humans ) work together in this world. Some are pets, but you can battle with them too. A lot of this world involves battling with them, actually.

Any powers - or I guess special techniques for you guys - just don't work here either.

Oh yeah! There are people here that weren't human before arriving. Somehow coming here makes them human? I don't get how that works myself, but every world is different and we all come from different places and different times.
